Poems My Grandmother Taught Me

The Fairy Tea

Once I held a fairy
On this finger here,
She was wee as she could be,
And delicately dear.
On her head a ruby crown,
And she wore a silver gown,
“Please, Dear, won’t you let me down?”,
She said to me.
“Won’t you stay and play awhile?”
But she smiled a fairy smile,
“I am late for tea!”
“And may I come?” She left my hand,
“No, this one’s just for Fairyland.
But someday soon I’ll come and we
Will go together to a tea!”
