Poems My Grandmother Taught Me

My Day Off

There was dust on the floor,
Dust everywhere,
Dishes to do,
But I didn’t care.

I took off my apron,
Skipped out the door,
Left the dishes stacked,
Left the dust on the floor.

I thought to myself,
Come what may,
I’m going to enjoy
This lovely day.

I took a long walk
In the air and sun,
I forgot work today
And I had such fun!

You can clean a house
Early or late,
But a beautiful day
Will never wait!
