Poems My Grandmother Taught Me

A Fun Game

Let’s talk like the ducks do,
Quack, quack, quack,
Let’s make the noise of the engine
Puffing down the track.

Hoot-hoot like the wise old owl,
High up in the tree,
Buzz around in circles
Like the bumblebee.

Cackle like the chicken
When she’s laid an egg,
Stand like the flamingo
Only on one leg.

Meow like a kitten
That wants food to eat,
Bark like the dog
That’s begging for a treat.

Perhaps if we cry
Like a hungry baby,
Mom will hear and come
With a treat…well, maybe!
