Poems My Grandmother Taught Me

Just Learning

One and more make two,
Two and two make four,
Three and three make six,
And I can tell you more!

Four and four make eight,
Five and five make ten.
Now since I have finished,
I’ll say them over again!

One less one makes nothing,
Two less one makes one,
One from three makes two,
Oh, numbers are such fun!

Four less one makes three,
One from five is four,
And since I’m only learning,
I can’t tell you any more.

But if you have five cents,
And spend one penny,
I know I’ll have four cents,
And that’s not very many.

But if I have five pennies
And get five more, well then,
I guess I’m pretty wealthy,
‘Cause that makes ten!
