Poems My Grandmother Taught Me

To A Little Stuffed Gingham Dog

Oh, no one knows but you and me
The bad girl I can sometimes be!
I only told you I tore my dress
When I climbed that fence. They couldn’t guess
That I spilled glue one my bedroom floor –
A rug’s over that, and what is more,
I sneaked some cookies yesterday,
And ate some cake when Mom was away.
There are lots of things that I’ve done, too,
But I’ve only told you – I’ve only told you!
