Poems My Grandmother Taught Me

Planting A Rose

This is such a fragile flower,
Hold tight the roots, sweet earth,
Be very gentle with it, sun,
For what is beauty worth?
Fall softly here, you raindrops,
Yet let it drink its fill,
Such beauty should be treated
With reverence, hushed and still.
